Let Your Soul Speak!
I’m no expert on your soul. You are the expert on your soul. My job is to help you recognize the language of your soul — listen to it — and respond to it. Like exercising a muscle to build strength, this process builds a stronger more sustainable trust within yourself.
How do we do this? You and I converse. My role is to be present to you while objectively listening for the energy behind your words. This is based on an ancient practice called spiritual direction, also known as active or intuitive listening. I find that I do not need to be with you in person but can also be present to you over the phone & on-line via chat or skype.
Some people, especially those raised with computers, find it helpful to write out their thoughts before saying them. Others like to meet in person. Topics to present for a session may include but not limited to:
Clarity of purpose, meaning, authentic living, work, relationships, transitions, faith, grief & loss, family, career, school and asserting own voice
The difference between this kind of work versus coaching or counseling is that there is no agenda, nothing to be “fixed”, “analyzed” or “put in order”. You are the expert on you and don’t need an outsider telling you about you. I only listen to what you present which is usually something that is at the forefront of your life at that moment. I approach you from your wholeness (mind, body, spirit), not brokenness — in need of fixing.
The idea is to let the dialogue unfold naturally on its own and at its own pace while allowing it plenty of space to go where it needs to go. I act as a mirror-holder and reflect back to you any insights or connections I intuit between what might be happening with you internally versus what is being presented externally. This gives you a chance to detach and step back so you can experience the connection(s) for yourself.
Sometimes we will come across blockages that keep you from aligning with your soul, causing imbalances. In this case, I will help you explore these areas by gently posing questions that will help you get more clear about what may need healing and/or releasing.
Other times, you might just need affirmation and support. Depending on where we are at the end of the session, I might suggest action steps that match your style and help you continue to trust your personal path toward deeper integration and understanding.
- One-on-one sessions are approximately 1 hour in length.
- Groups are 2 hours in length with a min. of 4 and a max. of 6 participants.
Sessions are usually scheduled 3-4 weeks apart, giving you plenty of time to integrate what you have experienced and learned during the session. Some people want to meet sporadically as things come up while others continue on a regular basis for months even years at a time. It’s up to you!
